Instuctor Information

The Aikido Bozankan dojo is operated under the direction of Y. Kawahara Shihan 8th dan of Victoria B.C, and originally from Osaka Japan. Kawahara Sensei is the technical director of the Canadian Aikido Federation. Sensei celebrated his 30th anniversary in Canada in 2005 and has a large following in Japan and North America. Kawahara Sensei travels regularly to conduct Aikido training seminars that we often attend and occasionally host.

The regular instructors at the dojo are Steve Erickson (4th dan), Robb Wheatley(4th dan), Kevin Elwood (3rd dan), Doug Mathieu (3rd dan), Jason Mitchell (2nd dan), Jim Nield (2nd dan). Several other senior members also help out as assistant instructors as required.
